I'm almost finished with my 1940 2 door sedan. Just putting on the chrome and stainless and I had forgotten that the only piece that was missing from the car when I got it was one of the stainless trim pieces for the edge of the running board. A lot of this car had been take apart prior to my picking it up and I did notice at the time I had only one side but never given it another thought until now when I am ready to buff and install it. My question is this, was this piece the same on all models in 1940 or unique to the 2 door sedan? Also are other years the same? I am hoping to find one usable piece and finish this project, I want to start driving it instead of working on it!:D
    Any help appreciated as always.

I believe the '40 (cars) all used the same moulding. According to the parts book, the '40 was a unique year so no other years will work.

Just a thought here but I think that unless I was building a correct restoration, I might look around for some accessory stainless or chrome trim, even stick-on, that would work.

Good luck, and lets see some pics of the sedan!!

Try Chevs of the 40s, they sell it. They are probably the best source of old Chevy parts on the planet. They even sell a few used parts and will buy your old cores on things like brake drums and master cylinders. Good people to deal with.

    aaggie,
I checked Chevs of the 40's and was really hoping to find something for less $. They were available for a pair but would wind up with about 2 bills in them.
    waldo53,
While this isn't exactly a restoration, I just can't bring myself to put stick-on stuff on it. I would however put on another type of accessory trim on if I could figure out where to find it. Any suggestions?

I was hoping that some other years, models, or even manufacturers trim might be about the same giving me something to look for. If anyone doing a 40 out there has decided not to use the rocker trim or has 1 piece they want to let go of, let me know. Until then, as soon as we get a sunny day I'll try to get some pics and get them up.
