trying to install my a.o.d. tranny to 302 roller motor everything lines up fine but last 3/16 of a inch when tighting up to block gets really hard and engine becomes almost impossiable to turn over with breaker bar.

trans came out of a ford truck and had rebuilt.
engine came out of crown vic!
trans that was hooked to engine was a c-6 least what guy told me...

Sounds like the torque convertor is not fully seated

Did you have the torque converter all of the way into the transmission? I like to tie them in so they don't slide out. Sometimes you need to drill a small hole in the bellhousing to tie it to.

Yep, don't force it or you will have problems. Pull it back and spin the converter clockwise a bunch of times until it drops down and seats into the transmission. Measure where it is now in relation to the mounting surface, then remeasure once it drops down. You should hear a solid clunk when it seats.

Does your torque converter have studs on it that need to slide into the holes in the flex plate as the engine and transmission slide together? Maybe the torque converter and flex plate are not clocked in the same position and the studs are hitting on a solid area of the flex plate. I have had it happen to me before, especially with an aftermarket torque converter....

Make sure you have the engine plate between the the block and flexplate also. I've made the mistake ONCE:)

which flexplate is on the engine? if you are using the c6 one it is different to the aod .offset is different in relation to the converter. could be the problem.
