Admittedly, I have a soft spot for 41 Plymouths. "Now back to the drawing board, disc brakes caliipers on rear rub on frame.Need to figure out what to do.Maybe after market brakes" Having read through your thread, I think that you have put in a 9" rearend. Not sure which brake system that you used. So, am trying to figure out your dilemma. Tell us more about your caliper problem, a picture or two would help. And, put up some pics of your progress. All the best, Dale Cleveland OH
Here's a picture of the rear end and frame and if you look closely you can see a scratch where the caliper is hitting the frame.
I had the same issue, but I was running airbags, so keeping the rear end was impossible. Went with a 68 coronet rear end. No posi, no discs, but I got freeway gears (2.73). I'm all stock 360 so it's not an issue at all, and it fits great!! Very happy with the setup.
Thanks for the info SlmLrd.It is looking like i will have to change mind also.Your car looks awesome.
Since the calipers touch the frame,i wonder if a person could grind off a quarter of an inch and not mess up the caliper? Anyone done that?I just don't want to mess with the frame.
Talked to a mopar guy today who has a rear end like Slmlrd ran in his car for $400.I think i will go that route.I just don't want to mess with my frame plus i can later put the lincoln rear in my 40 ford pick up when i drop my 454 in it.What do you think?
Yes there is .The brakes on rearend is taken care of.Have wildwood discs replacing stock discs on rear end with fabricated new mounts for them.At least I got to keep 9inch rear end.Now on to front end since fron t tire hit front fenders. Will put on pictures later. Thanks for asking. Exterminator
Car is almost on the road.Needs a few bugs worked out first.Still waiting for speedometer and gauges to get finished. Exterminator
