I saw a set on a car and thought they were pretty cool so I tried searching for some and maybe I'm calling them the wrong name but I couldn't find anything about them. Ford accessory? Aftermarket? Rare or am I looking in the wrong places for info?

    ugly!

seriously.. they seem to be relatively rare.. I dont know that they have ever been repopped.. (the 40's have)

the only set I have seen on a car (other than the pictured convert) was a sportsman convertible.. and the fit seemed wrong..

They were a Ford dealer installed accessory. They are pricey because many restorers like to load their cars...

I've had several sets of these, rears are smaller than the fronts, and I've never gotten much for them. The Chevy ones of the same period are pretty valuable for lowrider bombs all decked out, but Ford guys don't seem to want them as much. Ford factory accessory type item.

Also they're stamped steel, about the same thickness as the bumper, and they can rot out from the back when dirt gets trapped between the guard and the bumper.

Check out my friend George's coupe (search geoking). He m***aged the bumper wings on both ends and incorporated them into the bumpers (all one piece welded). I always thought these kinds of parts were for over-the-top restos before George used them on his way-nice hot rod, but not now, they look right at home on his car.
