Funny you should say that, Dan. If you look really close at the rear fenders, you can see someone flared them out a bit. It was nicely done, it usually takes people a good amount of time to notice, if they ever do notice it at all. But when you see it sitting next to another 40, you start to notice, big time. I think he may have changed out the rear end since he's had it.

I'll have to go through the old pictures to see if he was showing some tire back in the day... I found a picture of Jeff Beck parked behind the old girl down at Merced, I believe it was almost 30 years ago!

I took a ton of photos of that car at Billetproof in Chehalis! I could tell it was an old flame job done by somebody GOOD! They have a great, Rod Powell-esque shape to the licks and flow.

Hope you don't mind if I eventually copy those on my '39, someday!

It's good to see your dad is giving the ol' warrior some love and attention.

You guys going to Billetproof this year? If so, I will look for you. I'm driving my '39 there for the first time, this year.

We don't mind at all! In fact, I'm sure he will be flattered to have someone copy his flames! Ya know, actually met the guy who flamed the car years ago! And get this, he was driving a PT Cruiser flamed out EXACTLY the same! I'll have to dig up that picture too... I'm not sure if we're headed up north this year, we went down south last year down to Antioch, instead. That's a beautiful '39 btw!

My 40 used to be my Uncle's and he built it on a shoe string budget too. It's kind of crazy, his car was black with blue flames and done in 72.
