  10. Just put a 289 in the Coupe, have another on the floor to build for the 'Boys' 40 Coupe. My neighbor has a 89' 302 under his work bench, 302 FOrds are easy to come by around here.

I have, in my garage, a Ford Flathead with 239 ci.
Relieved (Merc heads), cammed, stroked. just waiting for mine or someone else's project.

Why doesn't the poll include Buicks?
I have one that measures out at 215 and is all aluminum to boot.

I've got a 302 Chevy. I don't know if it's spare 'cause I don't think it'll work in anything I own. Way too much for the street. It's sitting in the back of my '34.

  19. How cruel - that's right - pick on the kid with glasses, eh!?!

ALL my engines are under 302 cubic inches - and some are under 302cc!
Now I'm going to need some therapy...

I should have said GM products, Ford and Mopar.

It's just something I was wondering about. Not really about motors you have in a vehicle, but motors you have sitting around in your shop or out back under a tarp......

  23. The 273 2 barrel is coming out and being replaced by a built 360 so it will be living under the bench unless it gets a better invitation.

I do not have access to ANY spare motor, Ford, Chevy, or otherwise, but the poll wouldn't let me vote for none, so your results are skewed to only those who can answer yes to one of the two.

My '29 RPU will have a Ford Flathead. Stock displacement is 239 ci. I will rebuild it with a 4 in. crank to go to 256 ci. The spare engine will be the same. Hot rods NEED flathead Ford V8's.

  29. I have a '58 283 Chevy waiting to go into my truck.
