I am running a eldebrock street tunnel ram and have a va***e leak where the top half mates to the bottom half, is this a common problem? I was thinking about putting silicone between them instead of the gasket but am not sure what type I can use with gas.

I'd just get a new gasket. They can't cost more than a few dollars, possibly cheaper than the tube of good gasket maker.

Are the surfaces perfectly flat? The gasket should suffice, but a little black rtv wouldn't hurt.

No gasket just ultra grey silicone works for me, only problem is you'll need a pry bar to get it apart again.

I've had decent luck with ultra black. Just make sure you pe*** fully dry. Hope it works!
