I got a ford econoline pickup that im gona build a 200 ford for I Am thinking of putting a three carb offy set up like this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ofy-5205 and a cl***ic inlines header has anyone had a three carb set up on these smaller sixes if so how did you like it and what carbs did you run or any suggestions go a head I when with the 200 because it is pretty much a direct bolt in
Lots of guys are running Weber ICT carbs on these engines. I had a three carb set up many years ago on my Futura and loved it! I used the tiny Holley single barrels at the time (1904s?) on a home made set up and they worked great. That was thirty years ago though, and these days the Webers are so easy to pickup cheap second hand, that's the way I have chosen to go this time.
If your Econoline is a 1968, you may be able to put a 240/300 big six in there. That was stock in my '66. It uses a different bolt-in crossmember than the small six, bigger radiator. I forget if the doghouse is bigger. In any case, consider that as an upgrade because it would give you 150% the displacement! I've had both small and big sixes, so I understand the draw of each, and understand if you want to stay with the 200. Frankly, I sold my Econoline off after using it as a daily driver for about 5 years because I got tired of smelling like gas.
There are small and big log heads. the change was around 1970. The big log heads flow better but may not work with that intake ask. Also ford changed the bellhouseing pattern in 1978.
Keep the 200. Zero deck the block thats .060 off the top on the 200 to raise compression. Install a dura spark II distributor. Go with the webber carb setup it will be cheaper in the long run with less headache. Find a large log head put some roller rockers and cam from cl***ic inlines. Headder and upgraded cooling system the lil sixes run hot when u build em. That should cover it and double your power thats 200 230hp maybe.

I picked up a head off a 78 200 and decided a 2 barrel is the way to go probally won't get around to this tell this winter Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Man, I'd reconsider the three singles! The problem with those engines is of course the miserable cast in log manifold. The fuel distribution just flat ****s with one carb in the center. The two outermost cylinders ALWAYS run lean no matter what size carb you are running. Doing the three small singles deal solves that and gives you a nice happy idle with these things, and far better throttle response all through the range. The Weber ICTs are a tiny bit smaller than the stock Holley's and Motorcraft stuff, so used in triples they are just about perfectly sized. I'm not real sure why the Cl***ic Inlines crowd is so damned afraid of multiple carbs, 'cause you just set them up, sync them, and leave them alone.
the log intake can be bored and bigger frost plugs installed, was done hundred of times for inboard hydro needs 3 carbs to run right
In the early '60s there were a few midget racecars that used the 144"(first version of this 'cast-on-manifold' motor) that milled the manifold face off the head (the complete intake/exhaust face!!) so that they could port the head & fit injectors & tubing headers! This might be too radical for most 'street' motors, but shows how far 'outside the box' you can go! The 140 was a 4-main bearing motor that was changed to 7-main bearings for the rest of the family : the 170/200/250. The 250 was used in some larger sedans until roughly mid-'70s when it was replaced by the 240 from the 240/300 family(entirely different motor) The 250 has a larger block & nothing except the head fits, but does have the later 302 V-8 bellhousing bolt pattern.
If you don't mind dropping 2 grand, Cl***ic Inlines sells an aluminum head for these with a non-integrated 2 or 4 barrel intake. Based on the Aussie head, but with updated combustion chambers and better flow.
Ya I will have to think about what carb or carbs to run still haven't completely decided Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Here is the truck has a stock 144 with a split header and a 3 on the tree probably run this tell the motor project is done or I blow it up ...the motor on the stand is the 200 Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
