Here's another make I decided on. Gotta love the mid 30's styles.
It does need care and attention.
Had it shipped in via Fastenal from TX
Upon first quick visual inspection I need the following should you have?
windshield frame, header pnl above, w.s. crank out, pass door guts, maybe
misc body parts? Door etc., Got any?
And thats just the cab... whew!

    Its been awhile.....
Tried to hammer up door hinge pins. No luck
Whats the best way to remove them?

  5. If they are made like the Ford pins, there is a tool made to press them out. I think Dick Spadaro carries it and probably more vendors also.

It worked on my very rusty 34 Ford truck. I heated the hinges and melted wax into the hinge. They still wouldn't budge so I used the tool and tightened it up and left it on for about 3 days, heating and tightening each day until they came out.

Since I have no frame yet? Wanted to check on steel prices? Confirmed price for 36 ft approx $200, this would be 2x4 saw cut parts.
I ask you should I fab my own? How can I figure out where the hood & grille goes if I do not have one? Thinking I what to maintain same distance as original
    Any other comments?

My $.02 worth. The direction you want to go with it will dictate your frame choice. If you want to go with a traditional straight axle front end, building a frame would be the way to go. The only info I have found to help you locate the cab on the frame is here.
In it, it states that in 1936 the wheel base was changed to 116" with a CA (cab to rear axle measurement) of 37 11/16". That should get you started. Now, if you wanted to go with a more modern suspension setup, (non-hamb friendly) you could always score an S-10 chassis or early explorer chassis as the wheel bases are pretty close to the stock Dodge dimensions and you can pick them up dirt cheap! You can find help for that here. Good luck with it!

36 and 37 are the best looking years for these trucks. Are you planning to use stock fenders? If so, you will need the radiator shell with radiator support and brackets that come off of it to support the fenders. Not easy to find any of those pieces.

If I cannot locate an orig frame I will fab one for a straight dropped front?
The cab to rear axle 37 11/16".....where on the cab is that number based from?
Which hole, etc.? Then I can subtract the difference from 116" to get my location of the fron axle?

I love this truck, but have to be a little bias toward the '35 (since I have one that my father left to me when he passed):

This is NOT my truck (I couldn't find a photo on my computer) but this is a '35. Mine has it's '50's navy blue lacquer finish with black steelies.

    That's a late 35,it shares the cab with 36.

But I just love the 36-38 fat fenders. Take a look at this 37 beauty

Can I mix and match hoods & grille supports?
    Which can you?
ie.. Will 35 hood fit with 36 or later support?

Whats a "grill support"? Do you mean grill "shell"? 36 and 37 have interchangeable grill shells and hoods.

stick with whatever year you find,35 grille shell with rad support won't fit with 36 hood or fenders. Spend time studying pictures on line

I have one to get measurements from, as you need. I'll get you a measurment from cab mounting holes to front axle tonight if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Since all I have is the cab....
Verify the distance between the cab holes(front to back) that are on the frame.
Then measure from one of the cab mtg holes to the front wheel center line.
Or measure from one of the cab mtg holes back towards the rear......
    should be around 37 11/16"?
    Elite.....those are some sweet pics

Distance from the front cab mounting holes to the center of the front axle is 26 3/8", from that hole to the rear most cab mounting holes is 43", from those rear most cab holes its 46 5/8" to the center of the rear axle. Yes my wheel base is 116"~ There are 6 mounting holes in my cab and frame.

Mike, the center hood hinge is 40 3/8" long, the Riteway Headlamp bucket is 10.5" long, 7.25" dia at the lens, 7.75" dia in the middle, and the '36 headlamp mounting base is 7.25" long. I think '36 & '37 use the same grill shell and Ram, and center grill piece, the grill sides are different, but interchange in the shell if you can only find the '37. I notice on the brown '37 above, 3 pieces of stainless trim on each side of the hood, my '36 has 5 pieces, the 3/4" wide middle piece on the louvers, and the two 1/4" strips above and below the louvers. So the hoods might be different. I have alwways thought '36 and '37 fenders are the same, but can't verify that. I hope this helps you put yours together.

36DodgeRam, Hood sides are different for sure,36 has 5 thin stainless trim pieces versus 37 has only 3. Louvers on 36 gradually taper to almost nothing at the back end, where 37 has a bulge. From what I can see,I can not find any difference between fenders on my 36 Dodge,37 Plymouth and 38 Dodge trucks.
