Hey guys This is Shane (TxRat). MY town Beaumont TX took a direct hit from rita. at this point I still have NO idea of my home or shops situation. They are not allowing any of us back in.
But My main concern was my wife and son. Both of which are with me. So everything else can be replaced. We were stuck in traffic for close to 20 hours.Luckily I have a diesel truck so fuel wasnt an issue.

We are in Luling with my wifes family and they are the best inlaws a guy could have. So if anyone was worried please dont we are ok.

If anyone has any info please contact my cell phone and leave a message as service stinks up here. I have limited internet access up here so please call...

I talked to Kool Kat (N of Houston) last night and his
power is not going to be back for almost a week. His only
damage was tree branches and debris.

He talked to Big Ric and he is worse off, they are out of Beer  but no major damage.

    Skimmer,
I am next door to Ft.Worth.

We barley had 20mph winds and not a drop of rain.
Absolutley no damage other than all the evacuee's using
our gas and eating our take out. ;)

Shoot me a PM if there is anything I can do for you.

    Shane-
I did think of ya, and almost posted a "Wheres TXRAT, and how'd he fare?"
Glad to hear you guys are ok. I hope damage is minimal, we can hope. Glad you evac'd. I didn't I sat right here in Houston and watched it turn. Those last 12 hours. Whew! Sorry, I never wished ill will on the stateline area but was elated it wasn't Houston.
If you need anything don't hesitate to ask. I live down in Sugar Land and you're always welcome.

My daily is a diesel as well. Deisel was the last to run out. And its currently being the last to be trucked back in. I've ran to downtown a couple times since Thursday and haven't seen an open deisel pump yet. But I'm not worried still have a good amount in the tank and have a couple cans for back up.

Keep us updated on your situation.

Finally some glimmer of good news.

My father-in-law's brother stayed behind and has been sneeking around town. He made over to my place and gave us a report. The shop and house sustained little if any damage. My fence and power lines werent so lucky though. One of my neighbors 100 year old oaks took out my power and my fence.

the 100+ mph winds took out my POS gate and some fence on that side. Im not a very religous guy But SOMEONE was watching out for us....

now if we could just go home....

Thanks everyone for the good words of support...

  14. These damn hurricanes are a bunch o' ****.....I can't imagine not knowing if my shop & all the junk got douched, must be a nightmare of worry.......best of luck to you all. :)
