I am interested in a 1949 REO fire truck. It is a long distance from me. During communication with the owner, I asked about matching the ***le to the vehicle. He cannot find a number on the vehicle.

any ideas where the engine number is located on a REO? I am guessing it would be the number used on the ***le.

or is there a number stamped into the frame?

    thanks for the help.

i am sure its very little help, but on my 1923 the ***le number is the engin number and it was stamped on the front left of the block on the cast in motor mount. it was also stamped on the right inner subframe rail and possibly a tag under the drivers floor board. pretty sure up until 1936 they were still stamping the engin number near the front left of the block somewhere. you may be able to ask here
