I had a set of OT rims and tires on CL, got a question about fitment, relayed though CL. Made the mistake of replying from my email address. No less than 300 emails reguarding my listing in the last week and a half. Most of them are advertising Obama's healthcare and insurance and all sorts of oddball crap. First and last thing I'll ever list.:(

anytime you use craigslist, always set up a specific email account, yahoo, etc, just for the add,

Thanks,Ryan. I've run across it any a couple of times, but I had to try to find the proper way to report it... CRS

  12. I moderate the '54 Ford Club of America forum and I know exactly what Ryan is talking about,,the deference with our forum is I see all the spam and preview all the potential members,,so our members never see spam,,I get it all.

It would be impossible for the Hamb to moderate in this style.

In the last week I have screened over 600 spams only to have 2 ligament applications. HRP

  13. Ryan finally the voice of reason. Thanks for posting something to inform the fellas.

Now if one of the mods could be so kind as to give us a sticky. ;)

By the way I can always tell if someone has tried to sneak in a spam post on a thread because I don't automatically accept cookies. I always get an annoying amount of cooky prompts if there is spam on a thread.

I do know what cookies come from the boss by the way I do acdept those, I think there are currently 2 as I recall the standard HAMB cooky that has been here forever and one fro Viglink. They are not persistant and automatically go away when you log off.

Someone tell me if I am wrong, please.

  14. yeah superman wears Ryan PJ's and Chuck Norris fears him ...
a big THANK YOU ! to Ryan for all the above and beyond that he does !

  15. OK I know that I am not supposed to respond to spam but on that prosthesis, is that a custom internal or external fit? :D:D:D

Aaaand back up to the top. ;)

    These guys are relentless

    hey Ryan,
A quick question, does it help to go down the list and report all of their spams or do you just wax all of their posts in one fell swoop?

if you just hit the report button, it's much eaisier for them to delete the posts and user if no one has responded

  21. I posted an ad yesterday looking for a Blower Snout in the wanted/classifieds.
I just got an email,no private message regarding my ad.
Title of email is "JDOX at THE HAMB Looking for a good used blower snout"

I opened it & theres another email in the body (parkert984atgmail)--
    Further down is this---

"It will be a lot better if you send me an e-mail in case you are still in the market for the needed part(s). I can also call if you let me have your cell phone number. E-mail me on timlivingstone85@gmail.com

    Best Regards,

    Timothy Livingstone.
    United Kingdom.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"

I just checked my pms regarding the part in question & there aren't any---wtf is with these idiots?

  22. I posted a wanted ad and got the same message. So I emailed them and received an email back asking me to wire them 200GBP and he'll ship me the parts.

Don't open an oddball mail within a mail,or any link you feel is from a spammer, update and run your antivirus, those links often link you to a page that loads a virus

It would be nice if this question was answered …. hasn’t been on ford barn.

How do you report a spam post with no report button ???????? There have been several over there and possibly here
    That when opened
There are no words and no button …. Just the title looks like spam

  26. There are a few other recommendation I could make:
If you do not know the sender do not open the message.
If there is a link embedded in the message, do not click on it.
If is comes from a friend, in a separate message, ask them if they sent it to you.
    Do not forward.

    Be hyper-vigilant.... trust me I know :D

Snopes.com and US CERT (www.us-cert.gov/report-phishing) can help to validate issues.

There are different types of spam. Phishing which gets the user to click on a link or open a message to spread a virus, malware, trojan, or state sponsored attack. Normally bad spelling, strange combinations of requests, huge mailing list.

Spear Phishing: Very targeted finely tuned e-mails that get you to respond to link. Something along your password is about to expire, or you account is overdrawn. every thing is very accurate and the web address is a re-direct. Small amount of people on the list, invokes some sort of basic panic.

Whaling: In the case of whaling, the masquerading web page/email will take a more serious executive-level form. The content will be crafted to target an upper manager and the person's role in the company. The content of a whaling attack email is often written as a legal subpoena, customer complaint, or executive issue.

  27. How do you report from the HAMB-app? Can't find that function.

    nec spe nec metu
