The title of the thread is misleading. Why try to change the leopards spots.

The event is actually called The Australian Street Rod Nationals.

It is put on by The Australian Street Rod Federation. ASRF.

I like the term hot rod too, and have always considered myself a hot rodder.

I do not however dislike and look down on the term street rod or anything it stands for, unlike a good many it seems.

I just think an event should be refered to by what it's proper name is :)

That COE is very nice. Builds like that take a lot of innovation to complete.

I was there in my flathead powered 32 5 window.
A common question when people saw my Victorian plates was where did you drive from? From Melbourne! how else would I get here?.
2100 miles round trip. I wonder if anyone drove a flathead powered Hotrod any further? cheers David

Wouldn't have thought that many HAMB guys would do the ASRF Nationals? Because as that culture think its only the wheel and white wall tyres that make a "Hot Rod"! Calling this event the Australian Hot Rod Nationals is a slap in the face to the hot rod guys that side step these events! Hope I wasn't to controversial? Wayne

I agree they are not the Hotrod Nats ,however there are a lot of Hotrodders there that get it.
I had a good time talked with a lot of like minded people ,spent time with friends, drove my car 2100 miles .
Call it what you want, its what you make of it that counts not looking down your nose at what someone else has done with there car.
I try and spread the HAMB creed on traditional Hotrods wherever I take my car some get it some dont.
I have been fortunate to attend some of the best traditional runs in this country, the River City Roadsters reliability run and Black Forest Drive to name two recently, these guys get it .
That doesnt mean I wont go to an ASRF sanctioned event whatever it may be called regards David

I think you will find for legal reasons the ASRF can not use the name Hot Rod due to the fact many years ago they split from the AHRF (Aust Hot Rod Federation). The Drag racers kept the name AHRF and the ASRF was a new group. So really what is a name ? If you have fun driving it who cares.

From the photos I have seen I can see many HAMBers that I know at the Street Rod Nationals.

Man, how badass was that. I always heard you Aussies were into American hot rods, but this just blows my mind. My choice for the "Dare to be Different" after just a quick browze would be "BREAD SLED". Great appropriate name to go along with it. Great coverage. Thanks for the show. CG
