Does anyone make a flatened D shaft with another one slightly larger that I could use for a collapsible steering shaft? Searched but couldn't find what I wanted.

    Thanks in advance,

I'm not sure who in the aftermarket sells them, but they are being made. One came with my Factory Five kit. I also use one on my '46, I know it came from a mid-70s AMC Pacer.

    Did you try Borgeson?

If I read it correctly, you want a D on one end and a slightly larger D on the other? That seems like an easy part to make for a backyard hobby machinist. If you could find a local hobby machinist, it should be pretty cheap.

Thanks for the relies, yes I basically am looking for a slip tube setup for my 63 Tempest straight axle.

I do still have the original steering shaft, BUT my box is mounted way out in front of both the motor and the axle (front steer).

I just don't know that I am comfortable with a 6 foot long steel shaft pointed right at my chest with only a gl*** nose and radiator in front of it! lol

    Must be getting old.

    or smarter :)

I don't recall what the working length is on a collapsible GM inner shaft was. It might not travel enough if your box is way out there. Can't hurt to check some out to see.

Got it, thanks to those of you recommending Borgeson, I think that will work, I will just have to weld an extension shaft to one end or the other.

I guess in my mind I was thinking a whole length of tube sliding over another, not just the center section, but this should work fine.

    Thanks again,

    Stan

Just a shot of where I'm at,
