Anybody recall a 50 Merc lead sled running the drags or lakes that went fast? Whats the fastest you recall?

Kenny Cloth from Salt Lake City has run his stock bodied, Flathead powered Merc at Bonneville OVER 150 MPH.

I havent seen Kenny at Bonneville the last 4-5+ years. Has he retired the car or quit racing ? Thats an impressive flathead in that big old tank. Last time I saw it he had what looked like a 780 Holley with no gas lines going to it, using it as a throttle body

  6. Ken still has the car, it's in the garage and has a stock flat head in it now. From what he told me last time I seen him, was he was going to build another flatty for it. Yes the car was fast as hell with only 260 inches. Lots of home engineering in the engine! The engine he built still runs the salt obviously not in his merc any more. I can't remember whos running now. I do know when he ran it at the drags it was an impressive number but for the life of me can't recall what it was. I do remember him saying 7000+ rpm shifts with stock but very well loved con rods! He was doing this before **** was making cranks and rods. So modded stock was all a guy could afford.

Kenny invited my dad and I to his shop (storage unit) one day. Shelves full of stuff he'd built with his own hands and limited machinery. Mechanical fuel injection for a Flathead? Yep. Three of them.

I dont remember the guys name but there was a really nice tan colored Merc survivor at Bonneville in the late eighties but it wasn't fast. Did have a 4 bl last time I saw it so maybe its the same one that got faster in time. Cool car.
