Wow! a buddy of mine has a 427 435 coupe silver with a black stinger. His has 9000 original miles. I always tease him that when I win the lottery I'm going to buy him one he can drive.

And although the line "nobody ever sat in the p***enger seat" is impossible to verify, that's what hit me as pretty pathetic.

As far as what are you gonna do with it? On this board? Just because it's a Corvette I guess.

It's a benchmark. You know...the "Only original once", "Patina", "Don't touch a thing", ETC............

It'll go into a collection (probably already has) of someone that can afford a trophy like that. I say GOOD FOR THEM. I know I would if I had that kind of money. BUT....... mainly because I have a love for cars that makes me do things that others call "Irrational".

He left the car untouched except for tarting up the BBC with Offy covers and those awful wingnuts, not to mention the bling on the air cleaner. But, it's his car, so I should STFU, right?

That's really a sad story if you think about it. A guy buys a car like that and then just sits on it for near half a century only to preserve it for the next guy. Now it will be visually disected for years so the paint dab/chalk mark wackos can build even more accurate restorations that willl also never be driven. I guess we will never run out of old Corvettes. To each his own.

Radius the wheel wells, big slicks, raised front end with skinnys "g***er" Ok I just had to say it to get it out of my system. 1967 air in the tires what a bunch of bunk.

I was wondering about the Shelby snake on the glove box door too. Interesting story, but kinda sad & lonely as well. But i guess it takes a guy like that to preserve a car that way.

I have a cousin back in Ohio who remembered a '66 427 roadster that his school bus driver had bought new when we were pups. In the mid '80's, he ran into the guy and asked him if he still had it. Yes, he did. And it was all original, belts, tires and all. Tommy bought it, and you were not allowed to sneeze in it's presence. For some reason it sticks in my head it had a Powerglide, and it had no A/C. Terry Michaelis gave him $20,000 for it late in 1986. It had less than 10,000 miles at the time. Crazy.
