I am interested in doing a 46- 52 Chevy or IH pickup, either with original or S-10 frame. I have yet to see one with a big block Chevy in it. Has anyone seen or put one in one of these trucks, I figure if I get one with a small block already in it shouldn't be too bad a swap. I think it should fit I had a 39 Chevy with original frame and had a 396 in it, the body ch***is don't look all that much tighter than a 39 but I may be wrong.

Actually, there are far more small block Hipo parts available on the aftermarket than BBC. As for power, a small block built wildly will make nearly as much HP as a built up big block, but you sacrifice durability. Yes, you have more cubic inches, hence more power generally available, but the difference in money cost is so much there really isn't much point unless you really really have to run a big block.

The mounting is the same side to side, big block engine mount points are two inches farther back on the block to ***ist with balance and positioning in the cars, so you will have to make accommodations for that if you have a short engine-to-radiator space.
