    thanks... Mike

Here's a shot of my Living Room - the wife gave up 1 corner - that's ALL it took!!! She wasn't too thrilled at first - UNTIL one of HER friends came over and LOVED IT. She's out up with it since.

I also attached some trinkets I made for the garage......

.....now if I can figure out someway to convince the wife to let me hang some gas station neon signs in the house......maybe if I start with the kids rooms.....I think I might be on to something here!!

Then again if I cleaned up my MESS in the living room maybe THAT would be a start in the rigth direction!

BTW Here's some pics of my basement - please ignore the crap on the counter!!!

    Thanks Mike.
I haven't done much with them lately. Here a shot of the diner from spring of '04. Since then I've added some wall art, a slot machine and some shevling behind the couter.

Same goes for the living room. I put up some ceiling tiles and moved the drapes around. More of a winter project.

  6. Just a start....:)

The framed items are 24 X 36 prints of the 1911 Indy winner and the Edmunds supermod/sprint car that I'm building street-legal. It was drawn in Autocad. I have quite a few prints like that framed up and ready for the move.

The other shows my curio cabinet with a small part of the diecast models, signs, photos, and other memoribilia that I've gathered up over the years.

All this stuff will be moved to my bedroom/computer room/museum upstairs when it's completed.

Oh, yeah. I forgot my 332" lamp table. It has a polycarbonate top that's not shown and the lamp sits on that.

You asked too late! The spare bedroom that was my "office" recently got converted back to a bedroom for my new baby girl...

Before that, I had a bunch of old North Carolina license plates hanging on the walls, butted up to the ceiling like some people do with wallpaper borders. The plates ranged in years from 1929-1972 (year I was born.), and most of them were actually run by my grandfather. They all had some pretty cool patina on them, too.

I also had a 53 Olds and a 57 Chevy wheelcover on the walls, as well as the original steering wheel from my 52 Chevy Car. Other walls had framed vintage ads for late-40s/early 50s cars.

Maybe I can still get a pic of a little table/cabinet thing that I modfied with more patina'd license plates.

I love the switch plates! If you ever decide to sell some, put me up for a couple! The only thing I don't like about neon in the house, is the possiblity of the kid chucking a toy into the tubes. Reminds me of Adam Sandler, in 'Big Daddy', putting the 'live nudes' neon light in the kids room as a night light! :D

  10. We have some mini licence tags that have our names on them and a couple of signs. That's about it in the house. A car club around here gives unique trophies at their show every year. One year it was hubcaps made into clocks.

Thanks, it was a pricey one, the guy that made that for me is no longer in business. If you want some neon, I know a guy in Millington, that has been doing some cool stuff.

  16. I had automotive decor in one of my homes but I got tired of it because I don't find it comfortable to live with anymore. I made a couch out of the rear of a 54 Cadillac but got rid of it. Had license plates and crap up on the plate shelf. Some automotive artwork is okay but not anything commercial in nature. I need a clear boundry between automobile and other areas of my life. Otherwise it gets claustrophobic among other things.

I'm doing my garage/shop now and most of the stuff will go out there. It's got rafter space and lot of stuff looks good hanging up there, out of my way. I've got an old Pabst neon sign, some other neon stuff, a metal Kool cigarettes sign with the smoking penguin, other automotive stuff like an old light up Quaker State clock that is about 14" in diameter. I'll need to figure some way to display a bunch of smaller things like old parts boxes, additive cans etc. I'll send ya' a pic when it starts to look like something.

This being earthquake country I safety chain anything going overhead.

Don't know how to post pics, but I got a lot of old license plates, hubcaps, and emblems in the kitchen with my diner booth. If your doing a room, I always wanted to do one of my walls with the quilted metal as a sort of wainscoating(half way up) I always look for a junk yard with junk tractor trailers in it hoping to find a couple of quilted back doors. License plates of different colors and sizes make up a border on my kitchen. I hang all my good taillights and hubcaps indoors for me to look at. Sorry no pics, but I'm challenged!

Both of the art peices were done by my buddy and fellow Kreeper, Pete, he does some really cool work wish I had more pics. The valve covers were made by Chrysler! I have to note that this stuff is up in the main rooms of our place and thank goodness my gal is cool enough to let me decorate in such a manner!
