Well, it is that time of year when the crazies come out of the woodwork and make burnouts on Central ave but, it is also a huge gathering and a time to remember the times prior to the mid 80's when we all cruised, picked up girls and street raced on Central. We will be there with the Az Pontiac Power Group, have a row reserved on the main parking lot. I've arranged some suprises too so, stop by and say hello! Who else is planning to head to Central this Saturday? 11th annual Nostalgic Show & GO! www.nostalgicshowandgo.org
I myself will be parked at George and Dragon where you can sit on porch and watch all the crazyness. Usually we have about 5-10 traditonal hot rods there taking over the parking lot.
That sounds like the place to be Ron, we will see you there.....Out of the 1000 or so car's that will be crammed into Park Central Mall I would be willing to bet there would not even be three that would interest me in the least bit....Just Sayin......
I've dusted off my big, red, fake nose and shined up my clown shoes, so I'm ready. I'll be alternating between making circuits and sitting at the George and Dragon, watching for any cool machinery hiding amongst the slapped ass nonsense.
Took the words right out of my mouth. What time are you thinking you will be there. I usually get there about 7pm
I may have a little change in plans. I really should get down there early and bring Howard's old '57 Ford gasser into the Park Central clownfest and try to sell it. That's most likely what I will do. I also plan to take that car to the pre-dawn gig at So-Cal.
Seeing we don't have a race date to promote yet, I think we'll view this "experience" from a different vantage point.. See you boys on the Avenue at about sundown...
Tomorrow is the day to be down town on Central. Weather looks good, expecting a big turnout. www.nostalgicshowandgo.org
We all had a really good time. There were lots of people there and a great variety of cars to look at. Got there before 9am and left about 10:30. A long day, as we expected, but worth it. Having shade made a big difference. Met a lot of friends and made some new ones as well. www.nostalgicshowandgo.org
That was a pretty good cruise on Saturday. Traffic moved at a slow but good cruising pace, rather than the agonizing dead stop and move two car lengths pace of past cruises. I parked the '57 Ford gasser at Park Central about noon and came back to cruise in the silly gold '26 T Tudor. It was fun. The only drawback was that my tail light decided to come loose and fall of at some point in the evening, taking my license plate and Rattlers club plaque with it (RATS!). After getting the other car home, I went back out and retraced my path that night at about 25mph (no luck, got home about 2:00am). I went back out again early the next morning in the daylight, but still no joy. If anyone happened to find an Arizona license plate witha Paul Swanson Ford, Los Gatos frame and a Rattlers cc club plaque, please contact me, I'd really like to get them back. Thanks, Mike
Marky, Spike, Jerry, and Mike it was great to hang out with you guys on the porch at G&D where the real hot rodders were. Will do it again next time. I took a couple of photos will try to get them up on this post.
