Hi recently acquired a 57 four door fairlane baby blue and white. All original been garaged for 22 years has 42000 original miles. I've tinkered with cars but this is the first I wanna build back right. Building for myself of course Witt intention of p***ing on to my son who is currently seven so I have time to work. Removed gas tank. Has straight six. Has rebuild metal tag on side of block. Thinking of hot rod I do have a well taken care of 87 town car to take the 302 5 liter out of. Don't know if I'm gonna ruin the car by changing or if this is ok. All of you wise Motor Men will you give advice to a newcomer on what to do. Tricks. Places to get parts etc. first need a replacement tank.Second will motor drop in and work with original ******. The car has a white stuffed animal cat in back window with brake lights eyes and blinker. The car has a name Pinky was owned by a nurse in the mount tabor area of Portland she wanted a pink caddy and the salesmen sold her this. Good salesmen huh. Any way hi to all and thanks for the future advice
Welcome from So Cal. Let's see some pics of the 57. You ought to check out the 52-59 Ford group, lots of us running 302s in our cars. Click here to check the group.
Probably make a great driver as is, 4 door with rebuilt engine. I'd vote for a Y Block. You may have better luck finding a SBF. I wouldn't take the engine out of the Lincoln, unless it is really rough and ready for the bone pile.
Welcome from Oregon too, the dry side. I would see if the 6er is a good runner first. Transplanting the 302 would be nice also. A friend/hamber of mine "idrivemine" transplanted a 302 out of the same vintage car into his 64 fairlane. Hit him up and he can give you all the tricks to make it a smooth swap. Good luck
