I have looked and all I can find is electric pumps for dual carbs on a flathead. Will the stock fuel pump handel dual carbs? I would really like to keep the stock pump if I can.

It ill work as well with 2 carbs as it did with one....They are not the best pump by a long shot, but they have worked for decades.

They work fine. No problems. Be sure to add a fuel pressure regulator . 3 lbs is what they need .

Thanks guys, didn't want to go and get an aftermarket pump If I didn't have to.

  6. Olschool. I think that a lot of the fellas if they need to buy a fuel pump anyway decide to upgrade. If your stock fuel pump is in good shape it should handle a couple of old Ford carbs just fine.

Yes, it'll work, and a regulator is a must-have, set to no more than 3 psi.

Basicly it isnt like you are going to be running more fuel thru your motor, atleast other that the little bit of gained air flow you get from the multiple carbs at rpm... What i mean is the fuel/air ratio stays the same, you just pull slightly more air, and slightly more rpm(also more air/fuel), but the rpm is mostly negated by increased fuel pump strokes per min

No need for a regulator if it worked with the original carb without one. Adding another carb won't change the pressure. Never seen a flattie that had a reg.

I'm running 2 97s on my Studebaker with no regulator and a factory fuel pump. I ran 2 on my flathead but I used an electric pump and a regulator. Each carb only delivers 1/2 of the fuel for any RPM so there is no problem.(after they are synchronized) The problem comes in when an electric pump is added usually putting out excessive pressure overcoming the needle and seat.

Same here, I run a stock mechanical pump with 2 carbs and no issues. I don't run a regulator either, stock ford pump, stock ford carbs.

I just had to grind some off the fuel pump rod and play with a couple different gasket thicknesses to get the pressure correct. I'm running an old edmunds intake on my flathead with 2 94s. Set it to 2.5 lbs and never had to touch it again. No need for a regulator if you set it up right.
