has anybody ever had an issue with a stewart warner volt gauge or any volt gauge? i put a brand new one in my hot rod only to have the lens fog up. i only taken the hot rod out on three shake down runs everytime it keeps fogging up so bad you cant read it after it sits for a bit the fog goes away. its working fine. i called speedway to talk to a tech in turn he told me he has never heard of that before. they wont replace it for the fact i purchased it over three years ago. i never took it out of the package it was always stored in the house. dont know what to do, any ideas? thanks

ya' got some moisture in there somewhere. Is your heater core leaking or any other water leak inside? You might try taking a hair dryer and blowing it around under the dash to dry things out. Other than that - I dunno.

Can you drill a hole in the back of the gauge somewhere to let air in and moisture out. Must be holding the moisture with ambient air pressure changes as the weather changes from day to day. With hole to allow more breathing it should clear up I would think.

If it's a gauge with a light bulb socket in the back, you can "bake" the moisture out.

Is it still cold outside where you are? Remove the gauge, remove the bulb and socket, and set the thing over your furnace register in the floor of your house (make sure your humidifier is turned off). Give it a day or so and your moisture problem should be gone.

  9. yeah , the SW wings gauges in my `36 do that sometimes , they clear up when it warms up. the VDO gauges in my `28 tudor have never done that

If you just started using it I think it will clear up over time. I've had a few do that but they always cleared up after driving them a few hundred miles and cycling the the temp from cold to hot. I think as the weather gets warmed you'll see less and less of the fogging.
