Growing up in Anderson,South Carolina we had 3 drive ins,,The Fox,,Highway 29 drive in,later named the Viking when it went to a all adult theme format and the Skyway Drive in,my personal favorite,,they have been gone for a long time.

The property where The Fox was is now low income housing.

The Viking property is now a mulch & landscaping storage facility.

The Skyway now houses a Super K-mart and a Publics Grocery store. HRP

Mr. Osteen told me the reason he had to close the Skyway was due to the taxes on the property had gotten to the point where he wasn't making enough to pay his employees much less taxes and the big name indoor theaters got all the new releases.

And to quote Meat Loaf,I remember "Paradise by the dashboard lights" :D HRP

There's still the Tascosa Drive-In just north of Amarillo, and the Sandell Drive-In in Clarendon.

  16. We used to go to the 41 Drive In Theater in Hammond, Indiana. Always a good time. I miss those old Drive ins. The Y&W Drive In Theater was another one, also in Hammond.
