So the throttle shaft into the carburetor came out. I stuck it back in (blindly) and it still wouldn't rev. car ran and drove fine before it came out, most likely from pumping throttle. Is this fixable, or is this a pressed in piece that could never seat right again?
looks like the shaft broke where the throttle plate goes further tear down required and a parts carb or torch to braze it together or a good machinest to cut out a slot and tap screwholes
I see it the same as Eugene. Looks to me like the throttle shaft broke where the ****erfly is. You need a new throttle shaft. Neal
That is usually a sign the plate screws have loosened and jambed the shaft. Can you braze? Use a dremel cut off wheel to make a new slot. Peen the back of the screws so they won't loosen again.
Thats a good idea, however I think I know someone I could get a parts carb for and just replace the whole thing in one go. I'm looking into options. This kinda ****s though, I thought it would just pop back in and there was a flat piece it fit onto. Oh well
If you go with your friend's carb, I'll buy your old one for parts. Maybe that will help take the sting out a little bit? Or you could contact Charlie Price at Vintage Speed for a new throttle valve and shaft (w/screws) and give me your friends carb. You can reach him at (772)-778-0809 or e-mail cprice3711@aol.com, www.vintagespeed.com, or on eBay under the name realrodder (he sells his items there too). Just make sure to mention to him Roger from Michigan sent you. Good luck!
Thanks for the lead, but I actually ended up buying one on ebay in near perfect shape for $50. Knowing how damn impossible it is to get parts for this carb, I'm gonna keep my old one for spares just in case.
