It's popular to bash Speedway (and other retailers), but once again, they came through for me with flying colors.

I ordered, night before last at 2300 an aluminum surge tank, and a stainless overflow can for the Diamond T (my radiator didn't have a bung for the original surge tanks overflow, or the steam tubes from the heads). Yesterday when I got home from work, a box from Speedway was on the porch, with two beautiful tanks inside. And, the surge tank (pressurized) was in the "garage sale" section at a substantial discount, supposedly with small scratches or dings. It's perfect. I'll polish it to match the stainless catch can, and we'll have the cooling system wrapped up.

  2. I like Speedway, I normally get it the next day. Friendly help and so far no bad parts.

I have two catalogs laying on my computer table at all times......Speedway and Summit. Both are my first stop for parts and both companies have been extremely good to deal with in all respects. Sure, they may carry a small percentage of parts that could be considered "cheap" but they also carry a lot that are very good. All companies have to be compe***ive and that sometimes forces them to carry some items for shoppers who don't want to spend more money to get a higher quality item.

  5. Brian, you do know there are warehouses like Lefthander and other much closer with better prices?! maybe even a HAMBer in your area that deals with one of them?

Speedway have been m***ively helpful to me as I stumbled into this world. They've spent hours on the phone with me giving advice well outside the range of products they stock, and everything I've bought from them so far has been great. I'm really glad they're around.

No Tman, I didn't. I'd use them if I knew anything about 'em, and if they shipped, across the country in less than 24 hours, anything I could think of that I needed and didn't have! I'm all for helping out the "little guy", but I'm also all for doing business with companies I know, and the provide good service, good products, good prices, and shipping faster than I can go to my local auto parts store after work get.

  11. Lefthander is not a little guy but another family run company. B*** turned me onto them and I enjoy selling their stuff. Just a heads up, Google them.

Happy with them too. Shipping can be high but they have their free ship deals - like the one they have going now, until the 14th. An order over $100 is free shipping. Search Speedway here and the code is listed. Here it is - 'LV13'.

I bought all my 8BA parts, 4" drop axel, 4 link and spindles, bellhousing adapters from Speedway, and everything was right on. I did have some fit up issue with a fibergl*** front fender, and they took it back, and a replacement arrived in short order.

I, over the years, have bought allot of hotrod parts from Speedway. I have always received exactly what I ordered, and all parts worked great. Parts have always been delivered fast.

    I like Speedway

I have ordered many parts for my Landspeed Corvette over the last 3 years and have "Never" had a part backordered from Speedway Motors. Although I buy from a number of other vendors also, I often get parts backordered from the other vendors.
I had an issue with one part from speedway and they promply shipped me a replacement part.
I couldn't ask for better service.

The fact that part of the money you spend with Speedway helps fund the Finest Collection of Speed Equipment in the USA is worth something to most Hot Rodders/Racers. Bob

Interesting factoid: Speedway does more business with UPS than their neighbor in Sidney NB, Cabela's.

I am another one who likes Speedway. I have bought bunches of things from them and so far nothing disappointing. But you can't buy the cheapest thing they sell and expect great quality. Its one of the few places I can find what I need. You can't just go into any store locally here and buy hot rod parts. And they are the fastest shipper around.

I have always had good service from Speedway. Their tech line has been helpful on a couple of occasions, too. I guess I feel a bit of obligation to Speedy Bill due to the fact he has my father's '48 Tucker in his museum. I met him at the auction when he bought the Tucker and he seems like an okay sort of guy.

I have to say their customer service is great. I've made many purchases through Speedway. Their service is always prompted, friendly and professional. The tech support is great as well. I had to return an item once and it could not have went smoother. People can say what they want about them, but they truly care about their customers.

Here's another thumbs up for Speedway. You never know what you'll find in the Garage Sale. I got one of the Offenhauser Beehive Oil Filter housings from there for...FREE! The description said it had a casting flaw that caused a pinhole leak. I filled it with tap water, and let it sit for a few days...no leak showed up. I have snagged a few items out of that Garage Sale section, and no issues with anything. Make sure you read the description if you shop in there though. As for the regular stuff not in the Garage Sale section, my experience mirrors others already mentioned.

I think it's funny, Speedway bashing! As many problems I've gotten myself into with my build, they seem to have an answer for me. So-Cal, at least from my experience, is the shop I avoid. Bought a bunch of stuff there. I liked a few of their parts. But when I asked a question about installing my ladder bars, an old neighbor of mine who works at So-Cal Sac. told me "you'll figure it out". Yeah, I did. I went on Speedways site, looked at their install instructions and sorted it out. I put the rest of the parts on e-bay and didn't look back. Their parts are double what I can get them elsewhere (eg: shackles socal $40.00, speedway, Vintage ford : $19.99) for IDENTICAL PARTS!
Yeah they have pretty booths @ the show, cool t-shirts and a couple of parts I liked, but ****ty service, NO tech help, and poor selection.
Hey and thanks for the Lefthander's tip, I'll check them out!
One thing I have discovered about myself, people with OCD can't build "ratrods"!!!

They've always been complimented by anyone I know who has dealt with them. And every year, they provide some door prizes for our track's annual banquet, or for us to award to our champions. Great people.
