I was getting "ready" to put my fuel cell back in the trunk and was advised not to for safety reasons, and I respect his advise,
but It kinda spooked me and now I'm at a stand still.
It will mount on trunk floor as PO put in a complete new exhaust system that comes right down the middle of car and ends right in front of rear bumper.
I was trying to eliminate cutting out floor and part of exhaust system.

Yes it does seem vulnerable to damage or possible fire in the event of a rear ender.
I've seen a lot of pic's with fuel cells mounted on trunk floor (not sunken)
Just need some advise from some of you guys with fuel cells mounted on floor.
Anything I can do to help prevent or lesson a fire in case of a rear impact?
    Thanks for helping a newb.

  2. i did the same on my plymouth, but i used 1/8 in aluminum sheet and sealed it behind the rear seat as a firewall.and the rear package tray.this is also required for racing.vent the tank to outside.

Best safety thing for any in trunk gas tank is a well made and sealed firewall between the back seat and the trunk area. Steel or aluminum cut to fit with close tolerences and a good flat seal with seam sealer or other sealant and planty of fastenres holding it in place.

After much thought I'm going to s**** fuel cell and re-install OE fuel tank.
I will be re-locating exhaust pipes in front of rear tires.
