This will be my first post on the HAMB. Of course my name is Heidi. I'm 25 and from Harrisburg PA. I have been into cars my whole life. I grew up in a family that collected rare european cars. When i graduated hs and got a real job i bought my first vw because that's what i loved and what all my friends were into so my resources were endless. I built drag cars for about 6 years and always loved being able to do all the work myself. In recent months i met a fabulous boy. He is a total hot rod boy. He introduced me into a world of cars i always admired but never got to see alot of aside from random p***ings on the highway or spottings deep in driveways and yards. I would totally call myself a history **** esp anything between WW1 and WW2...the best years ever. So being able to take him to my war events and having him show me more about the cars he loves and knows so much about has been great. I plan to buy a new house next year and will search for a cool old ford to get til then (my garages are already packed full of vws) and hopefully learn as much as i can from the HAMB so when i obtain the car i have the knowledge to do all the work myself. So that is about it. Thanks!
Well, you're in the right place!. I am from about 30 miles north of you, up the river near Sunbury. All my hotrods are still up there. I'm living in northern DE right now. I p*** right through Harrisburg on the way home to work on them. Anyways, this place is the best. It offers an incredible wealth of knowledge, and some of the finest people I have ever had the chance to meet. The people here will not only tell you what you want to know, they'll lend a hand if you ask. So sit back, pull up the mouse, and learn The Way. Rock on.
Welcome to the show. There is alot to be learned and if you stick around here very long you'll be able to teach your new boyfriend a thing or two.
I'll have to run that idea past him and let you know what he says And thanks for all the support guys...i'm definately a hands on kinda girl but the old cars will be totally foreign to me...with everyones help i'm sure i will pick it up quickly...and hopefully show him i have some old car skills
Welcome to the HAMB. I live about 60 miles north of you. Good car stuff around here-especially Carlisle this week and Hershey next week.Recycle and cash in the beer can stash and head down the highway. Make sure you get a hot sausage sandwich at Carlisle.
Welcome to the HAMB and a strange and wonderful way of life. Lots to learn and the knowledge the folks have on theis board is staggering. Sit back, poke around, and enjoy the ride.
Gotta say Hey to another dweller in hell. Hail from the York side a du tracks. Its always a good time to learn. Just don't get over-whelmed, and always make it fun. Oh and apparently if you ever get married, the HAMB will ruin your marriage.
Cheating on me Joel? Welcome from a girl who's never played with Vdubs but.........ah no after some thought, I never would. Welcome anyways. Brandy
Yeah i don't know why i can't get anymore roadster rides You are more then welcome to take me for a ride in your car...maybe it will sway me from wanting to build a roadster (and i'm sure it will make zach change his mind about banning me from the car just cause i called him a knucklehead)
32....pffft!!!...coupes are for chickens!!!....sometimes i am a knucklehead so i guess i'll let it slide ....roadster rides are a go again....might as well ride in clarks 32 though...mines only gona have one seat
Welcome from Texas, your going to fit right in . I am a bit of a history nut myself mostly WW2 related though......
haha and you admit to that! just kidding...he's a great guy...hence why i call him mine. so i guess i have to start a new thread soon...what kind of car would you all suggest for me? i love the roadsters and old ford trucks...this will be a tough decision! i ***ume though that they are pretty basic to build (wiring and so on...none of this new found computer ****)...just a preference as to what design and shapes you like more...i will have to study some pictures!
