Like the smooth caps, they suit it well.

    Sweet car!

I was just going to tweak the rear down a bit and skirts. HA!
I ended up doing a 6" notch (bridge) and enlarging the last 12" or so of the drive shaft tunnel and releaving the trunk where the pumpkin was hitting the trunk floor.

    Enjoy it!

Im pretty sure you won't be able to get more than 2" or so lower before cutting needs to be.

Interesting. I've still got a single spring in the rear too... I need to pull it up onto the rack and see what I'm dealing with.

Mine came with these springs. I reversed the main leaf and flattened all just a little. I used 6" blocks also.

I am going to do a truck arm setup in the future.

Just drove the old girl 120 miles. Performed flawlessly.

Opened those 3 deuces all the way up and tested the line lock a few times too. She didn't argue a bit and seemed grateful to stretch her legs!

    I'm in love.

i love kustoms. kustoms kustoms kustoms!!! however............as much as it pains me to say...you have a perfect 1958 style car with the hubcaps and whitewalls, and imho skirts will interrupt the killer vibe.

^^^^^Have to agree; skirts were more of a custom trend in the '40's, into early '50's
for the pre-war cars. They were, however, very big for the new models coming out in the
    mid-50's....

It sucks because I've always wanted a skirted 36 but the more I drive it and stare at it, the more I am leaning towards not putting them on. I'm leaning more towards the style it was with the wide whites and full caps with no skirts.... Either way the back end will be coming down to make it sit level....

This is a tough choice because like I said, I've always wanted a dragging skirted 36, but I keep looking at the pics from '60 when it was set up with the full caps and all that. And I'm really digging the idea... Hmm.

Blew an exhaust manifold gasket tonight on my way home from work. It really went - was very loud. Almost embarrassing driving it the 10 miles to the shop.

Once there though, it was 15 minutes later and all fixed up again. Did a celebratory burnout pulling out of the shop for the night and all is well again. Ha.

Save the skirts for your future 3window and leave this as it is.....Kenneth.

  18. I dont get it? You lower the car, add skirts and you have it the way you want it,. It's not like you can't reverse this? Raise the car back up, take the skirts off and you have it back to what it was. I'd do it, take alot of pictures and then when you sell it, it will be just another historic event.

The difference is that if it gets skirts, the rear will have to come down substaintially to look right to me. It would need to be ass-low. This will require switching the springs, notching and cutting the truck and driveline tunnel. If it's just going to sit level, I can make that happen without doing all that.

For now I'm just going to make it sit level because it doesn't require all that much fabrication or altering and see how I like it.

How about ditching the radials in favor of bias for the correct look? The taller profile of bias rubber in the rear may fill the wheel well gap too.

Thanks guys. I just ordered my bias plys from coker today and I'll be lowering/skirting it in the next week I think... I keep going back and forth. I like it without but every time I see the skirts sitting in the corner of the shop, they call out my name...... Then I hold one up to the car and think "shit-I need to do this..."
