Great shots! Thanks for sharing them. Wonder what was up with all the flowers?

Great pics...I would guess the flowers were for a grand opening.

Go to Bing Maps, enter the address and then click on Bird's Eye View to get another angle.

The year looks to be around 1946 to 1949 Lincoln Zephyrs Ford Mercury. Cool shots

    Thanks

    Boy do I feel Dumb.
I work about a mile and a half from there.
I don't live in Batavia though and didn't even think of looking for the address.
No Lincoln Mercury dealership that I know of around there.

Interestingly enough, these pictures were found in the file cabinet drawer of a Dodge Dealership in nearby Albion NY. They were only open from 2000 to 2006 before going belly up.
I ended up with a lot of stuff out of that place as my employer bought the building in Albion, and I was able to get a lot of the tools equipment, parts and memorabilia out of there. But that was the only things there in relation to Ford/Lincoln/Mercury.

I thought I should scan them, for posterity's sake........

Lot of duplicates in the pile, but they were all rolled up so are cracking when flattening them.

Flowers and plants used to be the norm.

I have seen hundreds of pics of all sorts of dealerships with showrooms full of foliage.

  14. Those '46 shots with the flowers may be celebrating the first new cars after the war, the 'GOOD" war.

  15. Obviously the parts man died.

  16. Yes Falcone Electric is in that building and has been for a long time. I always wondered what that building originally was.

That stretch of Main St. is pretty automotive interesting. About a 1/4 mile up the road was an old Ford dealership from the early teens. That building is still there, it is now a restaurant supply store. Across from that is a Dodge dealership (Hawley Motors) that was 1 family owned since 1916 until about 2008. The son had zero interest in cars and sold out. A couple a hundred feet down the street, on the other side, sits a Chevy dealership that has also been on that property for a very long time.

There was a Lincoln/Mercury dealership in Batavia, NY up until about 10 years ago when the Ford dealership that carried the marquis had it pulled by FOMOCO. A few years after that FOMOCO pulled the dealer's franchise for screwing them. This is a "to be continued" story because that dealer may be going to jail.

As far as that Dodge dealership in Albion, NY goes: This is another dealer trying to screw the manufacture story. This started out as another "old time" Chrysler dealership in Batavia, NY. These 2 partners bought up this old Chrysler dealership in Batavia and had such a good time screwing people that they decided to open up a second location in Albion, NY. Well Chrysler finally had enough of their bullshit and first shut down the old Chrysler dealership because of poor customer satisfaction. About a year (or less) later Chrysler shut down the Dodge dealership in Albion for the same reason.

Here is one of the cars that Hawley Motors sold NEW:

I'm not even a Chrysler guy but I've always loved the Max Wedges....

Chrysler was never afraid to push the envelope.
