So I have a Triumph TR2 special race car from cali... Has Judson supercharger and Im going to run my Fish on it... Wrong place?
I got plenty.. Haha. Its my car so that means it always get pushed to the back... Gotta build a radiator and last owner had the judson overdriven and blew the headgasket and the honing marks are still showing. Has early tr-s block, block number 5 built of all 2.0 triumph motors
Cool car. I have a 56 small mouth TR3. They are impresive cars. They will give a non fuelie vette a run for their money. Nothing like those cut down doors!
Well my knowledge of the history is as follows... It was one of 2 built by Gibson racing in 1954/55. The other was rolled on the front stretch of Sebring in 1967. It was bought out of an estate by a friend in Morrow Bay, CA. The radiator and some other parts were robbed and put into a model t in the estate. I bought it from him and tried and tried to get a shipper to get it with no avail for nearly 4 months I took a week off work and drove from NC, to Morrow Bay, CA, and back in 6 days. All aluminium body except for the front of the nose, some one has replaced the trans tunnel pan. Motor will be built in about a month, than I gotta figure out what the radiator should look like. Hope to have it in the Great Race in 2014.
i spent a year apprenticed to a guy whose specialty was TR's; i did most of the "off-brand" work for him (MG's, Sunbeams, Healeys) as he devoted all his effort to Triumphs. i love the sound of those iron fours.
I am going to modify it slightly and make it street legal... Taillights, headlights, Probably front fenders, But thats mostly because it hurts getting hit by rocks all the time... haha
Just so you know, historic sports cars with racing history are worth big bucks to the right people. You might want to get it appraised first before making any changes.
Any changes i would make would not be anything that wouldnt use exsisting bolts/holes. The world is not about money but enjoying the life itself...
Sidevalve... I had cancer 7 years ago, caught it early only had to have surgery and one round of chemo... So it makes since to me... (im 24)
Cool car, great at***ude by the owner and the cool car has a little pushrod engine with a blower, what's not to like about this? That car just looks like fun and a pair of cycle fenders per what they run on a lot of UK open wheel cars would work.
That's absolutely a Special if ever I saw one and it fits right in in my book - Ned Ludd is right to grab the photos for his thread on Specials. Fish carbs sound cool - I had one on a 1275 Mini - went like a ****d ape. Still have some NOS Reece Fish carbs which I may use one day....
Great car and cool history! Sounds like it will be a LOT of fun. "The Great Race" and similar events are on my bucket list! Not sure what your background is, but it would be a good idea to take lots of measurements and maybe fab up a few replacement panels here and there in case it qualifies for historic track racing. Race cars can live a very rough life! x2 on the history and research...might end up finding the guys that built it and raced it! *
add another one that likes it....and TR3....and a TR4....and a TR250.... whoops going off topic there.....
Add, Ill probably fab up an entire spare body just to have. The hardest part is that nose. little bit of akward bends. Ive tried on the history to no avail. If anyone else knows anything about it I would love to find out more. Someone told me it was on Craigslist somewhere in norcal 2 years before I bought it. I bought it in 2010 in Morrow Bay, CA
