I have a '53 Series 62 that the license plate lamp ***embly was just completly rotted due to a broken lens. I have a replacement everything except the socket is thrashed. Can anyone think off the top of their head, what would be a good GM spec socket and bulb to replace with? I tried a single conductor with an 1156, but it's way too tall to fit in the well for the bulb. I'm kinda new to hot-rods in general, I can't think of much except VW p/ns :(:(

  2. There's a 1156 bulb equivalent that has the same base with a smaller bulb on top, just look at all of the straight pin, single contact bulbs at your local parts house. Sorry, I don't know the part number offhand but I want to say its a double digit number for the smaller bulb... Like an 86 or something.

The shorter bulb would be a #67.
If you can't find it at Brand X auto parts, try one of the heavy truck parts outfits, TruckPro, Fleet Pride, etc.

I saw a bulb #55LL at the auto parts store, I think it's an instrument cluster bulb, how easy would it be to get a socket for this?
