Hello everyone , quick question. I came across a built 235 with a big cam. She runs great and with no complaints. The only question I have is what do you adjust the valves to an unknown cam specs.. I looked around, but I haven't found any details.. Do I just adjustment to factory specs or what?
Thank you all for your time and support...

If you're talking solid lifters I'd say to start with the stock specs, set on a running engine at operating temperature. If it picks up a miss or "pops" thru the intake add a couple thousandths more clearance.

If hydraulics, adjust to zero lash running at operating temperature. If this is street driven engine turn it off and SLOWLY tighten the adjustment down another 1/4 to 1/2 a turn.

Check for specs for "known"brands to see what their clearances are.Maybe they are all similar.Use they for reference

  5. Consider this automotive archeology stuff.

If the engine is running fine now, take a feeler gauge and check your valve lash (if it is solid lifters) and write it down. When it comes time to adjust the vales again use what you found out.

If it is hydraulics zero lash and then a quarter to half turn tighter like has already been mentioned.
