    Hi Guys

Does anyone have experience on how to (or how not to) install
new undrilled brass door hinges on a 30 Tudor?

I have something in mind including aluminum beams (from PV system) with guides and a long pin to make sure everything is aligned...?
    (probably over engineered...?)

Tips, ideas, pictures, real life experience...
    Any help appreciated!

(I'm going to align (body blocks / shims) the body on the chassis first!)

  6. We replaced the hinges on a Chevy coupe and used the reproduction Model A hinges,,we used a piece of threaded rod & nuts to hold everything in alignment.,,worked like a charm. HRP

  7. yep that has worked for some, they key is to keep all of them aligned straight with no bind

    Hi Mr. Primeisnotacrime

    FREE:
Yeah I probably would have but these came with the car when i bought it!...
    And they're $76 bucks a pop...x 6....so I'll try to use 'em.

    HARDWARE KIT:
I'm thinking of bying your hardware kit for my hinges...should work right?
(it'll also be a good drill template...)

  9. yep, you'll have to tap the cowl sides and it's an odd size 5/16 -24,the door side is just a straight through hole,it should work

    Got one door on...!
    What did I learn?...any advice...?
    - BUY HINGES THAT ARE DRILLED & THREADED ALLREADY!

    How:
I used some free Solar panel stuff from work to make sure the hinges stayed aligned all the time.
The home made backing plates are BILLET aluminum...so my car isn't Billet proof anymore! (anti-seize on the bolts)

The door lined up perfectly and there's no binding!

The tool? It's a Nut Racer...didn't want to cut the SS threaded rod!

...Now all I have to do is the Passenger side.

    Aloha Tommy

    No Worries Man.

Your kit is worth the Money! It's a lot of trouble!!!
I'm not sure why they make 'em without threads / holes.

Started on the other side today (late)...should go faster.

    Aloha

This is what happens when you're in a rush...

I $?¢®è??? up the door alignment to the body.
A corner of the hinge fixture was hitting the door...I didn't see it till later...(some trimming fixed it)

I Can't have messed up doors, so I'm welding up the holes and re-threading them.

    TIG Welding Bronze:
It's first for me to TIG weld bronze....
It fizzles and pops and makes this weird white powdery stuff all over!

    WARNING:
Yes I read up on it and used plenty of ventilation.
It's like welding galvanized which makes you sick!

Came out pretty good. One more to go and then re-drill 'em...
Put the windshield in and adjust the steering box...
Maybe we'll still make the cruise on Saturday?

    ---that was yesterday---
Today new additional project, BOTH wires on my garage door spring snapped...

Done, doors / all the hinges are on straight!

Pay the extra 50 bucks to get them Drilled and Tapped!
