Can't find the post but have seen it here - what points replace the Mallory dual points? The NAPA or Echlin were recommended as a better replacement. Any help is appreciated. This is for an older Mallory on a 59AB, 2 bolt distributor. Bubba didn't recommend converting this to Pertronix - it has a smaller/shorter housing than the current available dual point dizzys. Or, does anyone here have a newer distributor available?
Mallory has the points but the post here pointed out that they are not the best quality. There are off the shelf points (for a Ford dizzy maybe?) that can be had in a better quality - looking for the interchange info.
I tried several sounrces to aquire something that would work in my Mallory YA-11A distributor and never found anything that fit except NOS mallory points at $20+ each. finaly broke down and bought 2 on e-bay. I had to sell a couple of my NOS Mallory rotors to break even on them. I still look for any Mallory parts in the blue and white boxes at swapmeets. Sometines you find a good buy on them. Rod
Mallory used different part numbers on marine engines and another ones on cars, for same parts. I don't know why, but skipping to marine parts has helped me to find points for Double-Life distributors. (Them neat lookin' old flat-top distributors!!)
I bought Mallory points from Belmont Rod Custom 781-326-3270. Maybe they have what you need. Also I found a part # in my notes - Jorin # 2330. I used these in a Mallory dual point conversion in my 324" Olds.
Flathead Mallory dual point replacement found! This is the post I remember seeing here - or one of them. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=403431&highlight=echlin+cs2300
