What I have been up to - Detroit Autorama

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Born a HotRodGal, Mar 6, 2013.

  1. This car absolutely glowed! It's the one I spent the most time going back to for the 2 days I was there. A flat-out fantastically done car.

  2. Well said Senor Zenor

in my humble opinion, not only should it have been a great 8 contender, but it should have won. the execution and detail was 2nd to none. great job to all involved.

  4. WOW.. Really dig this car. The underside is amazing. Also love anything powered by Pontiac.

Did anyone else notice the photobomb in pic 6 of the first posting? Kinda funny.

had a pic of this car in my local newspaper. associated press used it for a short on the show.

  8. Wow another home run from Darryl with the paint!! It's scary that he still seems to be getting better all the time.

Maybe one day the Ridler will swing a bit like the AMBR did and a car like this would have a shot at the title. Well done to all involved.

Here is a link to the car on Darryl's website with a few more pictures:

The second I saw a picture of the Iron Orchid on FaceBook, I was glued to it..

One of the best contemporary '60's show rods ever.

I hope I see this car someday.

They are REAL NOS Astro's, 15 X 8 and 15 X 4.5. With the welds finished, and done in "show chrome" by Advanced Plating in Nashville TN.

The tires were custom made by Hurst Tire, to replicate the M/T Super Stock Dragster series from '64.

Thanks for all the love, I'm very happy everyone enjoyed the car!!

    Dave,

Should have at least been a Great-8, if not the Ridler winner. The judges had no idea of what you did, not even a clue.
