I finally bought these 2 vehicles. I found them a yr ago when I bought a '57 Studebaker from these same woods. I know the Nash is a '47. I'm not sure what year the Ford is. I'm hiring a rollback to pull them out and then I'll have them in the cl***ifieds for sale. It took me another year to talk the seller into letting these go. I know there rough but they would probably be crushed if I hadn't bought them.
The Ford pickup is '42-'47. I believe the '47s had a removable Ford emblem on the side of the hood, whereas the '42-'46 had the Ford emblem stamped into the sheet metal of the hood. A guy here in town has a '45 Ford pickup, ex-military truck.
This Ford emblem is stamped into the rear of the hood on each side. The seller is getting me the ***le, I hope!!!
The reason there are so many of those trucks sitting around is because they are the ugliest truck Ford ever made and most people dont want them
I must've missed that poll I prefer them to the homely, toothy look of '51-'52s (insert donkey braying here) AWESOME door art, hope the new owner digs it as much as I do.
The owner told me the truck was driven to where it is now. It has the flathead 8 still in it. The door art is really cool. The "little welder" is present on each door. I'm going to see if this business is still around. The truck is too far gone for my ability and pocketbook.
That door art alone is worth the price of admission. It looks like the welder is smokin' a stogie...as if the welding fumes weren't enough. Good for you in saving them!
That is what I thought about the '38 Ford P\U I bought, it was a Marvelous, straight, no rust, original farm truck, a few guys including myself thought it was hidiously ULGY, so I decided to sell it & get what I really wanted. I put it in the local paper, hoping somebody would be interested in a truly ULGY truck. Holy $hit! 8 people showed up at the same time! There was a bidding war in my garage, one fight nearly broke out! I couldn't decide or remember who actually came first, after the dust settled, and one guy hauled it away for $900 I realized I could have gotten way more for that ULGY ole truck!
You got it 180 degrees out., the '42 is the only year not to have the Ford script embossed in the hood.
Jalopy45 is right about the Ford script on the hood, '42 emblem is a separate piece, '43-'47 is stamped in the metal. The "Jailbar" Fords haven't always been real popular, but that just makes them cheaper for the people who want them. The straight ladder frame, parallel leaf springs, and open driveline makes driveline swaps easier, much easier than '41 and earlier pickups. Also, 40-'47 has a flat firewall that makes things easier. If the Nash is too far gone, that Nash dash would look cool in the truck! The Nash would be a comfortable cruiser.
Well I guess I have a spot in my heart for ugly ducklings. The first car or truck I ever bought was a 47 Ford pickup and that was in 1994 and my older brothers first car was a 48 Nash of which he still has and one day he will get it back on the road after wrecking it in 2001.
I have a man coming to look at the Ford P/U tonight. He is leaving it "as is" and going to fix what needs to be fixed and use it as a shop truck. The door "PICS" are what sold it. I need to get rid of the Nash. I'll sell it cheap. It needs a good home.
