I agree, dont get too carried away with changing too many things on that car.

I actually know the lawyer, through a guy I used to work with, who bought a '32 Duesenberg dual-cowl phaeton from two little old ladies in NY. His son had gone to work for them cleaning up the grounds of their estate and also had to clean the garage. Paid $600 before he even knew what it was. Had it transported to his house and built a shop for it. Made the freshman mistake of dis***embling it. So now's the question: Where can he get a rebuild kit for a '32 Duesenberg engine? Answer: Buy a machine shop. He had it listed in Hemmings for $250,000 and the pics showed all the bolts in coffee canns and cardboard boxes, unlabeled. It sold, though.

This is what I know about the car. It was drag raced in the late fifties till '62 when it sold to the guy we got it from. The engine and trans were removed before the sell in '62. No motor or trans now. Looks like an old 9" for a rear end. The original firewall came with it but was out of the vehicle. Same with the original seat. It does not have any floors in it currently. Zolotone painted interior with chrome rollbar. Not sure, but the guages look original in the dash. Hydraulic brakes in front with drilled backing plates. The frame is also drilled for lightness. As for price. That is between the seller, buyer and DMV. I can tell you it was way lower than the five window in the for sale section.
