What are must do's in San Diego mid April?

I will be in San Diego from April 19-24 my wife will be working every day of the trip but Sunday the 21st so I am on my own and have never been to Cali. Any recommendations are appreciated. And car stuff is cool with my gal!

If your into model trains balboa has a really nice model railroad museum . 5 big operating layouts .

 

There is the auto museum in balboa park which I assume you would want to look at since this isn't a model train website. And I can show you some hospitality as well

 

Any time I go to California I make sure I eat In-N-Out Burger at least once a day.

Chicano Park day is April 20th. Huge lowrider, custom, and motorcycle show. It's a family event and there's lots to see and do.

sports arena swap meet, good anytime of the year

 

I was looking and there seems to be a ton of swap meets to do. I love that stuff so we will do some of that on our day together. I will check out the shows on my time. Thanks for all the tips and keep em coming.

It will be sad to be driving some rental car rather than one of mine but it shoud still be a good time.

I'd recommend the El Cajon car show on Wednesday evening. Take the I-8 East, get off on Magnolia (south), hang a left on Main St a few blocks down. Cant miss it. Also, I'm not sure if they are stuill doing it, but there's a car show on Thursday evenings in La Mesa off of Spring St.

 

You're from MN - just being in San Diego in February will be a treat!! My bro lives there and I'm jealous 10 months of the year. Just minimize driving....

 

Almost forgot Crusing Grand in Escondido. It's north sandiego county and they have it every Friday night.

go to the zoo. last time I was there I saw 2 giraffes doing it. drew a good crowd

The Antique Drags at Barona Drag strip. If your on the Hamb you'll like this. Sunday the 21st. Barona is east of San Diego on the indian reservation right past the Barona Casino.
