What a disappointment! Not much good stuff...if I were building a lawnmower or mud bogger truck than I would have been in the right place.
I was there both days, and it looks like the automotive world as a hobby has changed rapidly. Lots of older guys there looking, but not building old cars, so they are not buying old parts. The younger guy is buying diesel truck stuff, etc What little older stuff that was there was not even being looked at. Changes to our hot rod world are sneaking up on us.
i found some good things, I bought 120 brand new lathe bits for 10 cents each, 50 new american made double end mills with 50 new slotting saws for $90, couple of nice pipe vises for $5, 3 brown sharpe mics with one being a mechanical digital all for $15, a box full of brown sharpe and starrett stuff for $15, a really nice starrett v block and square both for $15, deal of the day that i missed out by15 seconds and I have been sick over all day yesterday and today was an old quality 180+ pound anvil in excellent shape sold for $100, also a huge bull dog arbor press for $175, I went back at the end of the day to buy it but it had been sold not to upset about that one.
and hey I'm was so happy to be at a swap meet....any swap meet, even a so call let down one by others after a winter of none...I have been going to estate sales all winter and it was great to be a**** like minded people in the open air
I saw some good stuff but didn't bring anything home myself. nice Chrome 55-7 chevy rear setup for early ford buggy spring for $275 that we missed out on while we scrounged up a wagon! found two decent AC 5 gauge panels for $20 for the pair with some crusty gages in them. lots of little stuff around but not too much for a great deal. would have come home with more if I needed more.....
I was surprised, saw a real good amoutn of vintage stuff including rare G***er-esque type stuff like spindle mount wheels, early Cragars and MT wheels a ton of other stuff too. My dad and I went to sell and did pretty good, we had some rare stuff which sold well. We were in the rear pit, near the rear gate, usually that area is packed typically but there were a lot of empty spots...however we have seen the same thing happen before and usually following that, say this fall there it will be packed and also vendors in outside parking lot. It is odd how it fluctuates.
I was suprised at the fact it wasnt completely full of vendors especially with the dry weather. I would of expected it to be overflowing into the parking lot but not this time. Picked up enough items to fill the car, good deals as always.
I scored a real nice set of matching 33 Wheels with Tires, and what appears to be a NOS 31 Closed Car Model A windshield frame, I actually went there with these items as targets on my shopping list.
There is a Model A parts and resto place almost directly across the street from the main driveway into the parking lot, They have tons of a parts, used/new. They had a model A show there on Saturday..guess you missed it
