I remember some brothers running those in roundy round dirt Studebakers. Some Hawks came with the big 352 in 56. I think I also remember an old man that had one in a 56 Packard that came supercharged.
How about the early Rambler V8. Wasn't the 57 Amb***ador like 300 horse or something? Later it was a 327 (not chevy either)
A well dressed merlin has to be at the top of my list but just too big for all practical purpuses. Also the air cooled V12 Liberty engines are a work of art. (Aren't there some of those that were hacked down to inline 4s for racing)
I also wonder why we don't see hotrods with Offy engines or Miller-Drakes or any of the other cool race engines of the past. What happened to the old run out Frontenacs?

in 1957 there were 2 rambler v8s the 250 which put out 190 horse, and the 327 which had 255 horse. in 1958 to 1966 the 327 put out 270 horse. in 1967 the rambler 343 put out 280 horse!

theres so many small car makes with cool looking v8s that youd never get parts for, but damn if you could find a runner!:D

I got a rebuilt 352 packard v8 that is going behind my deuce shell. Just need to sort out a stickchift for it, then I can figure out what else I am going to put behind that!

    The 352 made 275 horses in '56.

I know Hudson used packard V8's in their last year or two of production.
My neighbor has 70 some V12 Allisons still in their 1943 crates, seems they
were ending up in boats and pulling tractors so he boughtem all... "dammit
their aircraft engines",so it seems this stash of P-38 engines is "safe" for
now. He's got most of the rest too, from radials that bolt the crank to the airframe and spins the cylinders with the prop to some experimental V24
put together by Maytag. Oh,and his tiki lounge has a restored B24 nose
    sticking through the wall.

Saw something yesterday at lunch that was too-o-o cool for words. A 1931 Marmon 4-door sedan. ****er is a monster, and is powered by an overhead valve V-16. The old Packards, Caddies and Lincolns are cool, but how many folks have even SEEN a Marmon. And the guy who owns it, drives it around OKC on occ***ion!!! And it's probably a 95 point car, at the least.

I have a 56 Packard 374 from a Patrician 400 waiting for a 42-8 Hudson pickup. Got the stick OD setup from a 352 Golden Hawk that was rotted into the landscape.

Here is a 1939 Caddy V16, the dual carbs are stock, it also came with two 8 cylinder dizzies. This one is a flathead; an OHV was built 1934-37 but was dropped due to the cost to build.

Back in 1947 Tony Capanna was 3rd in SCTA points with a Marmon v-16 powered racer. This car also held the record for fastest one way run at 145.39.

A guy from Salt lake City had a roadster at Bonneville with a blown Packard inline 8 in it. The car was also on the cover of Hot Rod magazine. Rich Fox at one time was putting a V8 Packard in his Bonneville Vega too but I think he sold the car

The Vega is gone elsewhere, but I still have Rich's Packard V8 with Hilborn injection and Rotofaze ignition and his custom headers. Would look good in a roadster.

  30. There was a guy, back in the 60s, that built a Model A phaeton on a late Packard ch***is. He widened the body along with a bunch of other mods. It was in a few magazines. It was very well done, looked like a mini Duesenberg
