A friend of mine gave me this today. He's a builder, one of his customers gave it to him and told him it worked.

It's got the Champion logo on both sides, and some basic instructions on it. It's in pretty good shape, I hooked it up to my car and it seems to work, but I don't really know how to work it. I can see the green line go up and down when I rev it  I didn't see 8 bars like on the picture on the side, the one bar got shorter when I revved it, then jumped up and leveled off in the middle.

So, is this a great tool that I won't know how I lived without or a boat anchor?

Do you know something I don't?

I'd like to find out more about it. I couldn't find anything on the bay or in a search. After reading the tag over and over again, I think I should have turned the knob the other way so I wouldn't get the one bar. I'll try it again tomorrow after work.

Anybody use one of these things? Tell me why I can't live without it!

Also, will this work if you have a msd (multiple spark) ignition? Or any kind of hei?

I had it hooked to a sbf with mallory dual points and coil, but a msd might screw with it?

Thats a cool score. Been a long time since I saw one, good diagnostic tool, oscilliscope (sp?) will show you how each cylinder is firing, makes it easy to pinpoint bad plugs, wires etc.

I would ***ume that it was for point type ignitions. The newer electronic system voltages are higher with wider plug gaps and spark energy so it could go beyond the redline on that scope in normal operation. But not knowing what level or output the redline represents what systems can be tested on it is a guess.
