I bolted the fenders on a 31 Ford sedan we just found [ barn find, pictures to follow soon ] Has most everything but front fender braces! My question to ya`ll is will 28-29 braces work? Or does anyone out there have a pair?? I`ll keep you in suspence a couple more days until I can get the before & after shots.

The front fender braces are definitely different for the different years (1928-29/1930-31). The 1928 front fenders used forged braces but then Ford switched to stamped steel ones in 1929. Early 1930 switched back to forged braces for a short while (my April 1930 Tudor has these) and then back again to stamped until the end of production (with a few minor variations in bolt holes). For the '28-'29 and '30-'31 A's, they should be able to use either version of fender brace from those years without modification. Hope this helps!

If you need Model A parts, I recommend Bratton's Antique Auto Parts; they are honest, try to sell only the best parts available (mostly from the U.S. unless there is no other choice), and provide very good service. I'm definitely a satisfied customer! Check them out at

I have been told that 28-29 fenders sit lower over the wheels then the 30-31 and that the brackets are diffrent.

  6. '29 '29 fenders are smaller.
    Look at some pictures.
