That's a good idea, actually. But, I like it old school. I like driving this car with the old suspension and steering. My daily driver is the polar opposite of this car, it's a little sports car. But I do like its current dropped stance, too. Maybe I'll throw some bags under it. I dunno. If I were to go gasser, I wouldn't put a straight axle under it. A lot of people seem to forget that a lot of the old gassers never had a straight axle. FWIW, I wanted to do a gasser or street freak before it was cool.
I think most of us go through these doldrums every now and then. I learned the hard way though not to sell your stuff. Just put it back, cover it up and run it every now and then. Your passion will come back and it will be like a new toy all over again. Build something else you are interested in in the meantime if you like building. Don't get rid of a tri five. They are becoming the new 32 Fords...unobtanium before long.
I've been good but the motor is out of my truck,I hope to have it back together by OCMD but if not i'm going anyway.
NITROUS cures boredom and gives you plenty of things to fix---as for the super model , the song says if you want to be happy for the rest of your life make an UGLY woman your wife---don't make us read one of those pitiful threads about finding your old 55 in a few years...
There is a mental condition it's called SinceIhaveititmustbeapieceofshiticus. People who have this condition have been known to shit all their money away, dump their wives and kids and sell all their prized possessions so they can buy something stupid like a Harley. This condition may be rooted in low self esteem and it manifests itself in an inability to count one's blessings and simply be happy with their present level of success. Mass media and social pressures do not help as there is always the social pressure to move on to bigger and better things even though the sufferer has no need to do so. Some examples are MC Hammer, a multi millionaire who pissed it away, lottery winners who for some reason wind up down and out after a few years, Elmer J. Fudd, Millionaire he owned a mansion and a yatcht but shit it all away due to his "rabbitt" hunting obscession. What all these folks have in common is they all wind up crying in their beer remembering what they used to have.
Some guys like the build more than the finished car, building is figuring things out, solving problems etc. Give the car a good wash/wax all over detail, you'll find some little item that needs cleaned up or modified and your back in business
Don't feel alone. The other day I got so frustrated with losing the shop, the Falcon AWB build, and the not liking my roadster I was going to sell it all and forget the hobby altogether. I'd love to have a '30 Ford coupe but I don't see that happening anytime soon. Keep the faith. You got to keep the torch lit for us weaker ones that can't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Stylewise, it's a nice looking car. If you're tired of the sound.....get some different mufflers. Get some different tires/wheels for appearance. Keep the current ones for future use again. I personally would not remove the chrome trim from the sides............but changing the grille to vette teeth, or 53 or 54 Chevy teeth within the opening should be fairly simple and not too expensive. You might add a CD player or some type stereo if you don't have one, to give a greater choice of cruising music. Just sayin'.
Having thought more about this, I don't think I could part with it. Not unless someone is waving a lot of cash in my face (and more than it's worth at that). I have decided it needs new exhaust, so I'll do that. Maybe put some Chevelle bucket seats in it, and start saving for a 5 speed swap and a new engine.
My wife really likes my 55, and she's told me not to sell it. She did really like the Merc I was looking at, though.
I've been in the same boat lately. I've got all kinds of time and money tied up in my truck and it still needs paint and all the not-fun-at-all prep work to get to paint. I've got even more money tied up in a flathead build which I'm starting to regret (and the motor isnt even back from the machine shop yet). The flathead that's currently sitting in it lost a valve seal or something recently so it's embarassingly smoky to drive anywhere. So, 3 weeks ago I plopped down a few bucks for a brand new 2013 Dodge Charger R/T, and man, it has really scratched the itch. I'll get back to the pickup when I get back to it. I love the truck to death, but I just need to go on a vision quest and figure out how I want to finish it.
