have a cam dynamics roller dad used in his 283 super stocker during the late seventies and would like some help with specs if possible...hoping someone has some old CD catalogs. The numbers at end are 952 S and E2C. It also has the CD stamped on it as well. Checking lift with calipers has it around .415. Any help is appreciated.

I have some old Cam Dynamics catalogs but it will be a couple of weeks before I will be able to look at them. I am sure that you know that Cam Dynamics is now Competition Cams. I would call Competition Cams and see if "Scooter" Brothers is still around.

Mark Heffington was the owner of Cam Dynamics at that time, and did all the designs. He is now the owner of Hypertech, Inc. in Bartlett, TN. You may try giving him a call at 901-382-8888.

I have a couple old Cam Dynamics catalogs, but that info is WAY too scetchy for an id. .415 would be .622 in the catalog, I see a couple that are .615 suggested for 283 SS applications, but really you need some more info than that. At least stick it in a block put a lifter in the hole, and get an accurate lobe lift number, that would at least be a start...

    311-311-02R is a single pattern 275/.615 on a 102 LSA
    311-316-02R is 275/280 .615/.630 on a 102 LSA
Both are recommended for 283 SS applications.
But god only knows if thats what you actually have there, little more than a WAG.

    Falcongeorge,
Yes, it was an automatic 283 and it was on a 102 LSA. He used to install it at 98 LSA. I'm willing to bet it's one of the two you have listed. Now that I see the 311, it seems to ring a bell in my head and especially the split duration.

Any info on recommended valve lash for both cams?

    Thanks a bunch!

.035 and .030 on both of them. Pretty loose on the intake side, but that is pretty common on SS motors, they really wanna jerk 'em off the seat.

You are the man!! That explains why dad ran them .040 on intake and exhaust. I might be back as I found a couple more CD from the same era. He also had a 327 SS motor about the same time. Thanks again.

Hammers the SNOT out of the valvetrain though. But yes, it was a common practice with SS guys to run really loose lash.
