Who does decent and inexpensive work? Looking to get my exhaust updated before any serious trips. Glasspacks and bellflowers....

I would, but don't have a good place to do it...trust me, I would. But without a decent lift and room (single stall TIGHT garage...) it gets tough...

Also, no welder...and really don't it to be a bunch of muffler clamps.:(

I dont have a lift and my welding and fitting is done outside. Its not hard to do. Get some pipe with lots of bends, cut, mark with a magic marker, tack, fit, weld, repeat. The only hard part is standing up each time after lying in the grass

wait, no welder? You cant build a car without a welder :)
When I started working on old cars 40 years ago, the second tool I bought was a welder. Git One!

Yeah, I know how that can be with no lift. But no welder is my only issue.

so the answer is NO, but you're rich! You can pay the muffler shop, no problem. Nads posted that his dual exhaust was only $500 and he thought that was a good deal. I will look for my dual pipes picture where I used a 2 1/8" heat exchanger (zero money involved)

I know it is a long way from Chicago but... I have had great success with Lovell's in DeKalb. They are real car guys. Talk to Hutch, he is the man.

RICH!! LOL!!! Not so much, more that I got a barn-held car from a friend who sold it off CHEAP. :)

Would love to see those pics. I have definately tried to consider a 1 into 2 split to make it cheap, but the gas tank is so damn huge, the split needs to happen before the axle, and there is no great spot for a crossover. Might re-consider, and see if it is even possible with bellflowers.

Iggy's moved off of Harlem I think, but they are still around. Ace muffler is on Irving one block east of Harlem. Last time I was in the old hood they were still in business.

Call Midwest Hot Rods or VooDoo Larry and see if they recommend anybody.

What you're looking for probably any shop can do. I'd supply my own mufflers if you want a specific brand.

Vasquez bros in round lake did mine, pay for what you get? I don't know how you could do it better.... duels all the way back, i provided the glasspacks, they charged 300 bucks. Straight, clean welds, nice bends... worked for me.

You can get mandrel bent exhaust at Vasquez bros too! IMO Vasquez bros tried to pull a fast one on me. So I done use them. If u don't speak Spanish they'll try to rip u off. Thats been my experience with them. But I'm sure any cheap muffler shop can do it exhaust. What part of Chicago are u in? Or are you in the burbs?

Fyi i don't speak Spanish, everyone i know that had gone there paid 200 or 300 and are very happy. But getting ripped off sucks, not the case with me or anyone i know. For me it's always a risk when your not able to do the work yourself.

Ive never paid over 150 dollars including mufflers sometimes at velasquez and sons on elston and central. They have done all my cars....at least 9 cars Id say...my 64 coupe deville had nice glasspacks done for about 125.
