A buddy sent me this link to a video of G***ers at Martin 131 Dragway from the '60's.
Cool footage...I did a quick search to see if it had already been posted and came up empty.
Ive never posted a video, so heres the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjtB_UFUVQ0
Enjoy! (or ignore if its old news...)

  2. Cool video.
    Brings back fond memories.

  3. That was great. I spent a lot of Saturdays and Sundays at Martin in the 60's. I particular liked to opening run in this video of my old pal Larry Hinkley in his Willys pickup.

    Thanks for sharing.

Summer weekends were great @ US131 strip in the late 60's. There was a guy from Holland Mich that had a 37 or 38 SBC powered 4 speed Chevy coupe that ran hard. When he shifted the 4 speed it sounded like an automatic - never saw anyone else that could shift that quick! A couple years ago while at a car get together in Holland, the same guy was there with this old g***er - pretty cool!

I remember standing in a crowd of guys around a funny car, in about '71. My buddy and I were right next to it, almost under the body, when they fired it up. We were two skinny 9th or 10th graders, trapped with what seemed like a huge crowd between us, the incredible, ear shattering din, and the relative quiet of the rest of the pit area. My ears are still ringing!

The Corvette at about 1:45 is my uncle's.

The 37 Chevy with the green fade paint job is still around. I've seen it at the Nats North.

great video. I loved how it was edited to show a closeup of many of the g***ers then showed them racing. One of my favorite videos.

excellent video---took me back to the times. Really like the black 57 Ford and the 40 Ford cpe--lots of *****en cars that I saw run at one time or another.

Hey thanks for bringing back those memories, as I graduated in '62.
Those old G***ers deserve a special place in drag racing indeed.

I was just at Dave Crane's place in Battle Creek over the holiday... Dave's car club helped organize the drag strip, and Dave was a tech inspector there for years.
He and my uncle both raced there.

Best thing I've watched on the new big-*** TV!
