56 buick wagon not the water pump bad motor

After the test ride yesterday it starting making the noise .I thought it was the water pump.I took the belt of and the noise is coming from in side the motor Sound like some kind of bearing Realing screaching and knocking .I t would have a knock when it was cold but would dissapear. Any suggestions? Any one have a good used buick 322 motor?Thanks Bruce.

Had a SBF like that once...chunks of the valve stem umbrella seals had filled the crank oil p***ages, bearings were black...needless to say, it didn't make it.

 

I have a great 56 322. Not cheap, but how much have you spent on your so far?

 

Bruce, you may be better off in the long run ($$$$) buying an engine and transmission.
