Hide my emergency hand brake

Have a ugly modern hand brake inbetween the seats any one out there with a stellar way to hide it?

 

I'd be more concerned with the ugly steering column.

 

I would think those seats would draw the attention away from the emergency hand brake.

 

Mount the mechanism in a recessed box in the bulkhead between the seats, with a cover. Use the cover as the lever.

Camouflage paint. And put some on the steering column too.

 

This site can be so amazing the support and new friends, been on here long enough to know that thankfully.

I'm just starting out on the car and yes the colum and the seats will go but there is no need for the comments, what if I was new? Ad this would be my first introduction to the site?

Like I said some of you guys are the best truly into what it is and some of you are just ***holes.

If anyone has some creative ways to hide the P brake love to hear it and see it

 

. . . just get an older e-brake handle. They're a plenty, easy to adapt to work with just about anything, and you wont have to hide it cause it'll look right.

Well, yes, it would be.

As to positive suggestions;
Consider moving the brake handle to a different location.
Re-purpose an E-brake lever from an older car.
Build a E-brake lever, make the cable brake release from a motorcycle hand lever.

Console or such would be easy, steal one out of an older car. I have a pretty modern one Im going to install. I keep looking at it thinking about cutting off all the rubber and having some bare metal to play with.

 

Don't forget that it is an EMERGENCY brake not just for parking.

If you ever need it in a brake failure then hidden could be a problem. Just look for an older style or a common place to tuck it is across the front of the seats.

why not an under dash pull type t-handle style, like out of a shoebox ford?

 

You can buy a leather cover that covers everything but the padded portion of the handle. It covers the mechanism. If you get a cover it slip over the handle and should go under the carpet. You can have one made to fit and it will look better. That is a handle for a vega and a number of other gm cars.

 

Lokar makes a nice cover for their e-brake handles, I'm not sure if they will fit the dimensions of your handle though. Kinda expensive but most likely cheaper than what an upholsterer would charge.

Mine's usually hidden by can coolers, maps or fast food wrappers.

Lokar makes a trans mounted lever which I had on my '32. My '31 Had a lever under the dash but still accessible by the driver. In either case, if the hydraulic brake failed, I could still use the emergency brake. The E-Stop appears to be a parking brake only.
