Any one know what type of adaptor I can use to hook up my oem stock mechanical temp sending unit from 1939 Ford Deluxe to the head of a 1953 flathead v8. It is the right thread and size but the sending unit is loose into the coolant hole there should be some type of fitting it seats on then tighten the nut, Thanks Paul

Not sure this will work for you but I drilled out a br*** weatherhead fitting and then installed the temp sending unit into it. The heads you see are early style heads installed on an 8BA.

I think you can use the adaptors made for aftermarket tube type temp gauges for this. Generally the come in a pack of several, and the one you need to look at is the one to 3/8 pipe. It provides a seat for the flange of the bulb and is pretty similar to the Ford part issued when Ford went to electric guage in 1940...this part allowed the late heads to fit '39 and back Fords.
