Hey! I just joined a few days ago. I've only recently gotten the fever. One day a few weeks ago I found myself on ebay looking at rat rods and I fell in love. I have a '79 El Camino that doesn't run (long story), and I plan to resto-mod it eventually, but I happened across a certain 1934 Dodge pickup that I fell in LOVE with. That's when I decided to look for one. So here I am.. looking for an early 30's dodge pickup. I know nothing about anything other than muscle cars. I just learned tonight what a suicide front end is. Man I have lots to learn about hot rods.
Leroy, welcome from Kansas City. Yes plenty to learn. Key points would be stay on topic with the cars (pre-65) and don't build a r*trod anything...that's just not what traditional hot rods are about and frankly it makes people think you have no skills and threw something together. Explore the 'search' option and you'll find plenty of HAMB friendly ideas for rods & customs...as always, photos are great to post too! Now that you've learned about the suicide front end, brush up on how they work and the pieces that make everything fit. One thing that is a great source is the Speedway catalog and it fits nicely with almost any bathroom decor.
Welcome aboard from Perry, GA. Those mid 30's Dodge's are bad a$$ I'd like to see a truck done up right. I drive a '35 coupe when I can.
Welcome Leroy: I absolutely agree with you. Those 33-35 Dodge pick ups are awesome!!! Gotta be full fendered though IMO. And hopefully mopar powered.
Thanks for the welcomes! I live in Savannah, but I'm up in the Athens area often. In looking before I posted, I saw that the car I have wasn't old enough, so I didn't post pictures and I'll refrain from talking about it much. I'm looking for a full fendered Dodge and I'll either put a FI Hemi or a 6bt. The diesel is more of a pipe dream than anything though. There's a 33 on eBay that I love, but its out of my range. I'd like to do it my way. These trucks are difficult to come by.
